INTRODUCTION TO ASISA PROGRAMME

The ASISA/10xe programme exists to unlock the growth potential of local, black-owned stockbroking businesses and to help them develop in a sustainable manner enabling them to compete against larger established stockbrokers by providing not only development support but mentorship by industry experts and identify globally competitive growth strategies. The customized series of bootcamps and workshops takes participants through understanding their businesses in detail and unlocking their potential to scale in areas such as culture and management through to client and investor relations.

ASISA therefore invites all South African stockbroking businesses, provided they are at least 51% black owned as defined by the B-BBEE Codes with a turnover of less than R100 million a year, to apply for the second phase of the development programme.

ABOUT ASISA AND THE PROGRAMME

The ASISA Enterprise and Supplier Development (ESD) Fund, managed by specialist ESD firm Edge Growth, introduced the Stockbroker Development Programme in August 2016.

The programme, now in its second year, was made possible by funding from Coronation Fund Managers, Investec Asset Management, Old Mutual Investment Group, Prudential Investment Managers, STANLIB and Sanlam Investment Management. The funding received from these sponsors provided sufficient capital for five black-owned stockbroking businesses to participate in the three-year programme.

Following the successes achieved in the first year, the programme attracted two additional sponsors, namely Futuregrowth Asset Management and Taquanta Asset Management. With additional funding secured the Fund is now in a position to launch a second phase later this year, which can accommodate all interested black-owned stockbroking businesses.
